Within the walls of Jaisalmer Fort is a perplexing network of structures taking the form of beautiful yellow sandstone Jain temples. These temples, dating back to 15th and 16th centuries, are now the sites of numerous pilgrimages each year.
Their architecture is simply magnificent – built in the Dilwara style, which got its name from the famous “Dilwara Temples” situated on Mount Abu, these temples in Jaisalmer Fort are carved of soft yellow sandstone. Their interiors boast spectacularly decorations, including ornate marble deities, depictions of scenes from centuries past, and intricate carvings glittering from the rafters.
Upon entering the temples, one must remove shoes and leather items. We recommend going a bit early to beat the crowds
